074 Appointment In Tomorrow

Setting: after WW III and the endless war at the end of the 20th Century. (I guess we made it...but remember, this story was written some 60 years ago.)
This is your basic futuristic doo-dads with robo-showers and somnu-sleep. The Thinkers Institute had created a computer that could answer all questions, Everyone trusts the computer, but wait until you find out where the computer gets its answers. Seems a bit dated now but we can still have fun can't we?
RE: "Seems a bit dated now but we can still have fun can't we?"

An unintelligent, if not downright silly, comment. The show was produced 51 years ago; naturally, it would be "dated." Tell us something we don't know.

Having said that, "Appointment in Tomorrow" is arguably timeless for its satirical glimpses into human nature and rather profound philosophical insights. Maybe, you should listen to it again sans your 21st century haughtiness and superficiality.
Good points.
Thanks for the insight!

The best Science Fiction makes us look at ourselves a little differently; it gives us something to strive for...or against. The rather cynical worldview proposed by this story is that in bad times mankind is easily controlled by those who would seize power for their own benefit. This is hardly either a new concept, nor one under-represented in the genre.

"timeless for its satirical glimpses into human nature and rather profound philosophical insights?"

Please.

This is a mediocre example of work from a man whose best efforts were in the fantasy genre, not Science Fiction.
