A quiet man receives a "Build-A-Man" kit from the future. He ends up building a man that improves his career and his love life. It helps so much that he doesn't become necessary anymore.

This is charming, but very slight. Interesting though are references to "Hello, Tomorrow" what with "living on the Third Diagonal" and being a "Minister of the Fourth Oblong".
Does anyone know if WIlliam Tenn wrote that as well?
